Artificial Intelligence Application: POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

Artificial Intelligence

IT’S the 21st century, where we all are compact in a digital-driven society, ruled by algorithms, which drive our opinions. The digital world is an illusionistic trap that plays with our emotions, school of thoughts, and voice. For a long time now, nearly three decades, we are living in a binary world that assists us in living a better “customized” and “open” world. This is done using Artificial Intelligence Application.

Artificial Intelligence is a human-made virtual brain that plays the part of a human brain, from collecting data to delivering it to us, from making a call to suggesting to us which word to type next, and whatnot. Artificial intelligence has many applications in various sectors. Artificial Intelligence Application is a subsidiary market and also a market of its own; it converges with different sectors to advance them. Artificial Intelligence Application has its two sides, one in its support and the other in its contrary. In the following sections, we will talk about the artificial intelligence application in various sectors, and the ways it helps us, and the negative impact of Artificial Intelligence Application

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLICATION: CONVERGENCE OF TECHNOLOGIES

The different segments of technology have integrated with artificial intelligence to deliver various features and customizations.

>>> Artificial Intelligence Application in EDUCATION.

In the past decade, researchers and developers have added innumerable benefits to the education sector using technology. In recent times, many educational application software have dotted the digital landscape. These application softwares come with in-built AI systems running in the background to facilitate students with the kind of content they need. The AI calculates their understanding and knowledge to provide them the required content. It helps the producer, as well – It hooks the customer to their product.

>>> Artificial Intelligence Application in HEALTH.

The Artificial Intelligence Application in the health sector has come a long way. Earlier AI was reduced to image processing for plastic surgeries, calculation of bone age, etc. But with time, AI has become a significant segment. Now it opts for remote operations using human surveillance, calculating drug doses, assisting and nursing patients.

IBM WATSON, HANOVER, are some prominent examples of the convergence of the health sector and AI.

>>> Artificial Intelligence Application in MEDIA.

Artificial Intelligence Application in MEDIA helps in image restoration and processing. It also helps the media houses to generate statistics and analyze the content people want. In video games, it helps to stimulate characters and produce dynamic graphics. The AI software helps to recreate, autotune, and customize music. Nowadays, AI has become a prominent partner in the media industry. AI also helps to create visual art and graphic digitally. It may help to animate the characters on their own.

>>> Artificial Intelligence Application in SERVICE SECTOR.

Artificial Intelligence has the following applications in the service sector-

a. Providing automated customer service- Many softwares can converse with the customers and recognize their intent. They are chatbots who send automated text to the customer and help them to solve the issue.

b. Marketing and Advertisements- It creates a new system of targeted advertisements to get more returns.

c. Hospitality- Reduces staff load and facilitate customizations etc.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLICATION IN SOCIAL MEDIA: MANIPULATION AND NEGATIVITY

SOCIAL MEDIA- A virtual society where we live more than our practical world. Social media connects people across nations. It helps in different ways as it helps to put out opinions, link boundaries, and run small businesses. But it has a dark side in disguise, which, for now, is in no one’s eyes.

I’m explaining. Let’s say you searched a product ‘X’; you research about it, now suddenly your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter handles; everything gets flooded by the information about ‘X’. It happens every time, right?

It is a way to earn for the tech giants, known as data licensing, and targeted advertisements. The social media platforms build algorithms to collect your data like search history, your locations, posts you like, or see; they keep track of everything you do on the site, making you a raw material for their business.

If you think they only license data to other businesses, then you are wrong. These tech giants sell the data to political parties. Political parties use data to know the concerns of the public and therefore raise these issues in elections. Adding to it, if you scroll through a single ideology, then AI algorithms will flood your feed with the same ideology. It manipulates the people to divert their opinions. In recent times, we have seen the growth of extremism, and social media has a big play in it.

This impact doesn’t stop here. Every social media platform has three main buttons – LIKE, SHARE, and FOLLOW. These buttons hook the people as getting a like, share, or follow; gives us a high. It releases dopamine; the more we get, the more we spend our time on social media.

When you download an application; it asks for several permissions to be granted. By allowing the access we let them receive the data, like location history, contacts access, microphone access, camera access. Any fraud application can retrieve these data if granted access. Now the artificial intelligence application comes into the play, it gives the data to the company which then sells it to other businesses.

The broad recognition of social media is also because of the passage of news through it. Many people also see it as a News resource, which has led to false information and fake news mongering. WhatsApp and Facebook are facing this crisis. It may lead to civil war, someday. The algorithms lookup for engaging posts, and then they show it to more people to show advertisements on them and generate revenue. A biased post will generally create more engagement, and hence our feed fills with this kind of posts.

The hates, trolls, and threats are normalized and these feeds are again supported by algorithms. Many teenagers feel low if they don’t get attention on social media. This diverts the upcoming generation and harm their upbringing. The teens are hooked to the social media every now and then, which has many psychological impact.

THE CONCLUSION

The Impact of Artificial Intelligence can be seen everywhere, yet ignored. We are under the control and dominance of the AI. The extent of its manipulation will reach heights if overlooked. Its creators, themselves fear the upcoming extension of the AI technology. We say its the era of internet, social media, hashtags; but in real terms everything is managed by the artificial intelligence algorithms which are tuned to produce desired results. Although, they help us in many ways, as stated above, but simultaneously hamper us in many ways. The fact is that the merits of AI are propagated but no one talks about how badly it influences us. In future we must reduce its application to positive terms only and make it useful for various sectors that can flourish by artificial intelligence application. In this capitalist world, where every line ends to make profit, lets not forget we are humans and humanism is our purpose.

AI DOESN’T HAVE TO BE EVIL TO DESTROY HUMANITY – IF IT HAS GOALS  AND HUMANITY JUST HAPPENS TO COME IN THE WAY, IT WILL DESTROY HUMAMANITY AS A MATTER OF COURSE WITHOUT EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT.
